  • DICE Day 1

Had a fantastic first day at the Dublin International Comics Expo. Incredibly sweet people attended today, and I enjoyed meeting many of my readers. Did a couple of panels, one about writing with a murderer’s row of comics writers, then talked to another group about charging ahead with your independent comics with John Layman and Brendan McCarthy. Drew some for kids which is always a highlight, and got jacked up on tea. I hope word spreads far and wide about this show, it can easily become a destination/must-do convention. I think my favorite thing was watching the lines grow for Declan Shalvey.

Finally was able to skype with my family, then pulled my classic “I’ll just rest a minute” maneuver and fell asleep to wake up at an odd time of night. So I’ll be in good shape to meet more folks tomorrow.

Here’s that writer’s panel, courtesy Mark Kirwan! I’m in the black t-shirt engrossed in Matt Fraction talking about something emotionally wrenching, clearly. This is preferable to any pictures of me eating the sandwich Declan’s mom got me on the later panel.
