    Hey, hey.

I’ve been loving Thunderbolts lately, and on that basis I was prepared to give your Hulk a shot despite my misgivings about the character when I heard that you were including Machine Man as a part of the cast. Aaron’s been one of my favourite characters ever since Nextwave, and the look I saw in the previews told me that you’d be keeping on that same track. Imagine my profound dismay when I read #47 and realized you’d reverted him to his pre-interesting, pre-entertaining, pre-Nextwave personality.

I’m feeling… substantially less motivated to give the book a look at this point, if only because I know that every time he opens his usually-delightful mechanical mouth, I’ll be exposed to profound sadness and woe. Even if the book is otherwise great, and I suspect it will be, how am I to endure this?

I guess I’m just asking for your comments on the topic. And hoping that reading and commenting on comments here is something you do!

Dave, you might want to read past that issue. Aaron does have a sense of humor, but it’s super dry, and you start seeing it in the next appearance. I can’t have full on- demanding beer- persona, it doesn’t fit the tone of the book like it did for Nextwave, where Ellis was making everything over the top. But I think you’ll find he is very ‘human’ as it progresses. Since the Secret Avengers and Hulk were discussing a serious situation, it wasn’t appropriate for him to show any of that yet. He does it more with Red Hulk one on one. Thank you for giving us a shot, though, and I hope you’ll go further.

Alright, man, I’ll give it a go for a couple of months and see how it works for me. Your past work’s bought a lot of good will from me, so I’ll put my faith in your word here. :)

    Thanks for the reply!
