  • First Class Film-fun

Things are looking good for that much-speculated upon X-Men: First Class movie as they’ve brought Josh Schwartz in to write, which leads to fun speculation about who would play who. Like in this piece with me talking to Jennifer Vineyard over at MTV Movie News. But to be clear, I don’t think it will resemble the book that Roger Cruz, Colleen Coover and I did much beyond the name, it looks like it would follow the movie timeline and be more a New Mutants kind of thing. And my Kelsey Grammar comment is not a dig, I think he’s terrific.

But now really, an Agents of Atlas movie. Who would play Ken Hale?

When you mentioned the comment about Kelsey Grammer, I was worried it was going to be bad. Thanks for being kind. ;)

From what I understand… the First Class film is supposed to be a Prequel. Since they’re introducing Young Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. And Young Beast is supposed to be introduced in X-Men Origins: Magneto. And they already have Young Jean from X3. Though they may need to recast her. So the only one left to be intro’d by the time that X-Men: First Class rolls around is Young Storm.

Hopefully they keep the elements about the ‘First Class’ that were established in the X3 Novel. I liked Hank and Storm as a couple. Liked it since Ultimate X-Men. Even if they screwed that up quickly enough. Bah!

For some reason, I’m thinking Ernest Borgnine or a Charade-era Ted Kennedy.

I know the answer is too obvious, but you can’t tell me that isn’t Ron Perlman in that monkeysuit.

(But, oh, Lee Marvin. The things that could have been…)
