  • IGN has a sneak peek at the DARK REIGN special arriving in shops on December 3rd, featuring among other notable Marvel heroes, the AGENTS OF ATLAS.
    did someone say

For those puzzled by the mention of it as “the second miniseries,” that’s a mistake, probably building off Carlo Pagulayan’s reference to the first mini. Don’t worry, there’s a freaklot of Atlas coming down the trail in 2009. A FREAKLOT.

That artwork is spectacular — as much as I’m going to miss Leonard Kirk, it’s a heck of a silver lining to get introduced to Carlos Pagulayan’s work this way. Who’s the colorist? I love the warmth of the lighting in the lower panel.

Oh yeah, Carlo is the man. He and I used to work together on Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four a few years ago. And those colors are by the overly-talented Jana Schirmer!

I was worried when Leonard Kirk was busy with Captain Britain. Especially since I don’t read that book. But after seeing Carlos Pagulayan’s work, I seriously cannot wait for the new series to begin. I wasn’t aware those preview pages were from the Dark Reign: New Nation One-Shot though. IGN seemed to imply they’re from the first issue.

The first solicit is also out now. Though there’s not much to see thanks to the delay in Secret Invasion. :(

These solicits are classified until the release of Secret Invasion #8.

Why the $3.99 price tag? Is it possibly an oversized 1st issue? Regardless, AoA is well worth it…

the artwork on this next chapter in the atlas story looks like its going to be incredible, i’m fired up for it.
the x-men first class movie gets a writer……AND ITS NOT PARKER!!!! where’s the humanity……………..

Unless I’m getting the extra content remembered wrong, it is oversized!

    It’s likely oversized.

Marvel’s been launching all of it’s new books lately with Oversized First Issues.

I’m hoping the Agents of Atlas story from Who Do You Trust? is reprinted in the Secret Invasion: Dark Reign One-Shot. I’m not sure how necessary it is for readers of the new series, but it does establish the status quo for the team.

That looks yummy! And an Ed McGuinness cover too. Sweet!

Dusty, they’re just using the First Class title, the movie won’t resemble anything we did in the series.

Though you’re right in that I should write it anyway, just because I probably need to write some movies.

Maybe you can pitch an Animated X-Men: First Class movie to Marvel?

It would be cool to see the O5 in animated form.

Heck. It could be your take on the recruitment stories of the 5.

    Back to Agents of Atlas…

I hope that Jimmy Woo won’t be dressing like The Mandarin (Well, Yellow Claw) all the time. I like him in a suit. He’s sorta the ‘Straight Man’ of the team. In the comedy sense, not the other sense.

Careful observers will notice Jimmy is wearing a suit on the cover of issue 1…

    Aye. I noticed that.

But I also know how often the covers have almost no bearing on what’s inside the actual issue. And seeing him in the robes in the preview images just made me want to mention that.

Is “Dark Reign” like “Chocolate Rain?”

I have to say that I was also concerned about Leonard not doing the art, but my worries have been totally put to rest after seeing these samples from Carlos. This is sweet looking stuff. I am officially in the can’t wait category now for AOA#1.

Oh man Coale, just imagine Tay Whatshisname singing DARK REEEIIIGGNN (breath) like that?

Marvel missed a serious marketing opportunity!

Jeff, so glad to see you and Carlo reunited. Did you have a say in that? I’ll miss Mr. Kirk, but you and Carlo did some great stuff on the MA books.

Kyle, I agreed STRONGLY when my editor said he’d like to ask Carlo! What’s neat is that you’ll see other big-time artists doing pieces simply because they keep seeing the team and want to draw them.
