  • Writer Vs. Artist at CBR

I’m trying something new today at Comic Book Resources in a feature called Writer Vs. Artist. Where instead of hogging all the precious spotlight for myself regarding books I work on, I attempt an actual dialogue with the co-creator who draws the stories. I love creator chatter and have always liked these conversations since reading Truffaut/Hitchcock* and one day while working out some storytelling on MYSTERIUS THE UNFATHOMABLE with Tom Fowler, it occurred to me that there was some good stuff here being wasted on just the two of us. Also this will help rectify things later when we’re codgers remembering the details wrong- which is most likely to come from me as you’ll see how many times Tom has to correct my memory.

The biggest draw of course, is lots of early designs as you retrace our steps in how to create a new cast for a book. These aren’t even all of them, which is something anyone should ponder in considering how much time can be spent planning before beginning a series. If this goes well, I’ll probably do another back and forth next month for AGENTS OF ATLAS.

*Yes, I am saying that Tom and I are JUST LIKE Francois Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock.

Great idea guys! It’s so nice to hear from the artists of the book. Writers suck. :) We’ve got something to say too ya know!
