  • National Periscope Radio

Steve Lieber and I are on NPR today talking to Neda Ulaby about music in the workplace, specifically Periscope Studio. It’s too bad our segment is short, because Ron Randall and Colleen Coover had some good lines in the full interview. In fact, we brought up Dolly Parton’s Jolene, which I thought must have been in there since they have a related feature on that song, but apparently it was just coincidence. At any rate, this will prove to the world that I’m not what David Hahn refers to Coldplay listeners as, “people who are too expletive lazy to listen to Radiohead.”

Interesting piece. I liked Steve’s comment about acting as room D.J. Where I work, we all wear headphones and listen to our own music. (I enjoy mostly film scores.) But I used to work at a service bureau that had cable radio and we would all take turns being D.J. for a day. The great thing about that was that I was exposed to a lot of different kinds of music and that just doesn’t happen anymore.

Like we needed another reason to love Radiohead, lol.

I like to pencil to lively music (hip hop, techno) then I’ll go for some moodier stuff (Bowie, Hendrix) when I’m inking.
