Makes Happy.
At The Comics Reporter, Tom Spurgeon posed the question ‘what in comics makes you happy?’ for his Five for Friday question. Now I really feel part of a cult, because an overwhelming number of people cited early ’60′s Jimmy Olsen, Segar Popeye routines and others I almost mentioned like Wiseman Dennis the Menace and Bill Elder scenes. The end result is that now that whole post Makes Me Happy because it reminds me how much we have in common.
And if there’s anyone out there who doesn’t know the Kliban cartoon I meant, it’s the one all cartoonists should probably have framed above their desks.

I like the secondary message that the Blind are the enemy because they can’t appreciate what the cartoonist does.

I actually had that blown up and tacked to my refridgerator in my old apartment.
