  • Back to Savannah

If you want to hear my thoughts on writing comics as it pertains to the artists drawing them, go back in time and enroll at the Savannah College of Art and Design so you can be at the Comics Arts Forum this weekend, where I’ll be giving a workshop. Or just wait patiently until next week and I’ll probably post the thoughts I’m writing down for it here. The sequential art students will be getting the unexpurgated version of course, full of swears and dirt on industry titans, but it should still read well.

I don’t usually mention layouts I get from artists because that stage happens so far in advance of print time, but I just saw most of Eric Nguyen’s breakdowns for his X-Men First Class issue 8 and now I’m even more excited about that story. It’s the one featuring the Man-Thing, and it’s going to be GREAT. In general the whole book starts getting the drama stepped up as of issue 6 (and Roger Cruz just went the hell off in his two part story, as you’ll see) and I’m generally giddy about the whole four issue arc.

It all just gives me even more material for this workshop, “How To Write For Artists.” Which will probably take up the rest of my blogging time this week, but you never know. If the hotel has wi-fi I may get something in.

Wish I could get down to Savannah this weekend. Sounds like a great opportunity to learn.

I’d love to see a version of that lecture on the net — that’s definitely something I want to learn more about.

I second Zack’s request. You should do a series of lessons for aspiring comic writers and sell them through Paypal.

Well, wait until you read the free lesson and then decide my Paypal fee!

That would make you the Radiohead of comic writers. In a good way.
