  • Green Men and Talking Boards

If you didn’t see it, there’s a preview of today’s X-Men First Class where the kids meet THE HULK. I’m getting a lot of compliments on the Recap Page that are undeserved, because I didn’t write this one! Assistant Editor Nate Cosby did, and he’s pretty much the king of recap pages at Marvel. He also did the Rules of Bobbyland that I was envious of. Here’s where Scott unloads on puny Banner.

And to get you in the mood for Halloween, Colleen Coover and I bring you the young X-Men’s first encounter using a OUIJA BOARD.

    In stores now!

I haven’t gotten my books yet this week, but I’ve seen the advance reviews. Sounds like a great issue. And yes, I loved the recap page. Feel free to pass on some of my usual praise for the book to Nate Crosby. Who I’m sure is the alternate reality son of X-Man and Bing Crosby. Don’t ask me how it works. :D

By the way, the Xoujia image seems to be broken. :(

Editors rarely get the credit that they deserve (and usually get the blame when things turn out bad), but I’ve gotta say: I know when I see that guy’s name that I’m in for a pretty good time.

You know, I see the ouija panel fine. I don’t know what to tell you!

Fixed Colleen’s image so us lowly PC users can see it.
Must be a comfort to know that your web guy is made of awesome. And gingerbread.

It’s a fuzzy comfort. I don’t understand why IE viewers couldn’t see it. What gives?

Somebody smarter than me can answer as to the why but CMYK jpg’s won’t show up for most people. You have to convert them to RGB before saving them to web.

I can see it now. Thanks guys.

Great issue, finally got to read it. Definatly my favorite book this week. It was a high quality week all around for me though. Well, except for the DC stuff. :)

    1. X-Men: First Class #5
    2. X-Men #204
    3. X-Men: Die By The Sword #2
    4. Teen Titans #52 (Not sure why I still pull it.)

Is it my imagination or was the Hulk colored and shaded with a retro style (you know, benday dots), while everyone else was colored with a more modern technique?

Was that a style choice, or am I seeing things?

I didn’t review this one because I didn’t think I could top last month’s assertion that XMFC was better than the Dark Phoenix Saga, but it’s pretty darned enjoyable.

Plus, it’s got that Colleen Coover work the kids like so much!

Spencer, Roger’s been using lots of zip-pattern on his art lately, so it does look that way, I agree.
