Yeah, the WGA is trying to make it so if the screenwriters work in animation- a totally different union- they'll be banned from trying to come back. I would use the term "blacklisted" if they'd feel comfortable with that...

My friend Joaquim was a director on Airbender after working on Justice League. I hear it's great, but I've never seen it.

Good interview! I like that you're an old-school Scrooge fan. My copy of UNCLE SCROOGE MCDUCK: HIS LIFE AND TIMES is one of my all-time favorite comics...I want to get the hardcover someday. Hell, I'd like the whole 30-volume Carl Barks Library!

It's curious to see what could happen with animation in the next few years. With a Writers Guild strike a strong possibility, a lot of screenwriters are looking at animation as a way to work around the strike -- though Warren Ellis reports the WGA is taking steps to block this. Still, I'd like to see an influx of animation with well-developed worlds and backstory, like we saw in the wake of BATMAN: TAS in the 1990s.

My friends keep raving about AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER on Nickelodeon. Anyone watch that?
