  • Lunch

My lunch yesterday looked so good I had to take a picture of it. And flaunt it before my studiomates, whose lunches did not look as good. This was the cashew-mango rice dish with chicken from the Veli Thai cart across the street. Visitors to Periscope often make a face when we suggest going to the row of food carts for lunch, assuming it will be like the ‘roach coaches’ they’re familiar with whereever they live. Those vehicles that drive up at noon and serve you grease, if you don’t know (also known as greasewagons). But the food carts are relatively permanent setups in downtown Portland that rival lots of restaurants.

    I wonder what I’ll eat today…

I’m allergic to cashews (and cilantro, which makes Thai food kinda touch and go). What else ya got?

Ooh, that cilantro problem probably bites you in the ass weekly, I bet. We’ve also got an impressive Czech cart I bet you’d have no qualms with. A good soup and salad cart that closes shop way too fast, three Mexican carts all next to each other for some reason, some – wait, I could make a blogpost out of this! I’m saving the rest.

Yeah, but do you have a Chinese Mexican cart?
