  • Nary a Sasquatch…This Time.

I’m back from a weekend hiking the Dickey Creek Trail in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness east of town. And while I didn’t get to see giant talking animals like Mark Trail does daily, I saw some beautiful areas. Unfortunately, it is way, way too hard a hike up lots of elevation for someone to do when he hasn’t been camping in a while, especially with a big pack on his back. Today I am shambling about like the Frankenstein monster, not daring to bend my knees any more than necessary. I’ll try to post pictures tomorrow.

Don’t forget: the Giant-Sized Marvel Adventures Avengers, out this week. Ow…

For a minute there I thought you had hiked the Dick Cheney Trail…

Mark Trails talking animals are meant to be allegorical. They represent the fact that despite our skyscrapers and our mp3 players we are still just overgrown grass eating herd animals with tasty deserts named after us in the end.

I put Mark Trail high up the comic battle lords scale. I once read a strip where he downed an airplane with a stick. That puts him up on the National Lampoon version of Sgt Rock where he downs a stuka with a k-bar and up two steps from Sgt. Rock him self who downed one with a tommy gun. Mark Trail is rock hard action packed adventure with talking allegorical animals, what more could you ask for on the funny pages.
