  • Out Today…

    smff2panel.jpg

Swing, stretch, stealth-walk, rampage or flame into your local comics shop today, Spider-Man/Fantastic Four #2 is out. That is all.

UPDATE: No, that is not all. Karl Kesel wants people to know that he’s selling the inked cover of SMFF #1 on eBay right now, part of his ongoing “pay veterinary bills for the pet Corgis” initiative. Three days left!

Thanks to the digital age and how Wieringo and Kesel always work, ie; Mike uploads his pencils, Karl inks a printout on bristol board- that means there’s still the ‘Ringo penciled page around somewhere. But I bet it’s already SOLD. Collectors still argue about just how to collect such a thing (like it matters), but I wish more art teams would do this. Then you can get both and frame them together, a bit like buying an animation cell package, with roughs, cel, and background. Cool, I think.

Will pick it up this weekend. “I’d kill for some Galactus about now.” I love your ear for dialogue, Jeff.

I read it last night and have to say I am enjoying it so far and appreciate the story and the art. It is really cool to see Wieringo on FF again, Unthinkable is still my favorite FF story for both writing and art, it was Doom at his best. The Spiderman/FF story so far is classic big story Marvel, I loved Spidey’s comment that you call him when the Lizard is loose, not for galaxy saving even as he rushes off to save the galaxy. Alien Aunt May was a nice touch too. Looking forward to the rest of the series, but looking more forward to when they give you a major book to steer full time.

I just wish Karl Kesel was writing more. He is one of my very top writers.

Why isn’t Kesel writing more? His Superboy run wow… His FF… if only Gorilla comics had not been so short lived…
