  • Avengers 14…The Actual Cover!

Many of you noticed the solicitation for the upcoming Marvel Adventures Avengers with the Agents of Atlas, but were scratching heads because of the cover. I can answer that- Marvel ran the wrong cover for the solicits! I would really like there to be a noticeable sales spike with this one so they can see there’s a following for the Agents, so that was unlucky. If you participate in any message boards that talk about Atlas, how about doing us a solid and showing them this, the ACTUAL COVER…

Agents of Atlas meet the Avengers
    MARVEL ADVENTURES THE AVENGERS #14
    Written by JEFF PARKER
Pencils and Cover by LEONARD KIRK
Remember your history — The Avengers didn’t thaw out Captain America, and Kang the Conqueror became Master of the World throughout all time. To make a brighter future, our heroes have to go to the 1950′s and enlist the help of The Agents of Atlas!
    32 PGS./All Ages …$2.99

As you can see, it’s an homage to the classic What If issue. I know lots of people wish this were a 616 occurence, but besides being in the Adventuresverse, it’s about as real an appearance of the gang as you can get, with me and Leonard on the case. In fact, I really think it’s the best MA story I’ve written and I hope you’ll agree. As for Leonard, he knocked it so far out of the park you’ll never find the ball. So give that friendly retailer a call and make sure this one’s in the folder!

I don’t know, something seems missing from that cover.

    Maybe more color…

Colors may change a bit between now and then. I’ve an idea myself.

Love it! You’ve convinced me to pick up the MA: The Avengers title.

Shame the past issues are only available in Digest format. :(

Good stuff, not a big fan of the Adventuresverse but I’ll be picking this up just because it has more gorillas. I think that is lacking from today’s comics: gorillas that can use all their hands for machine gunnery.

Jeff Parker should be the writer for Marvel Apes.

He’s done great work with Beast and Gorilla Man. :D

MA Avengers is one of the best books out right now. Team it with Agents of Atlas and this is going to be a sweet read. Can’t wait, Jeff. Hope it sells a million, too.

Thanks a lot guys! The Marvel Apes thing seems too fraught with one joke peril, though.

Jeff, since you haven’t got a separate entry for today’s issue of Marvel Adventures Avengers (the Sons of the Serpent issue), I just want to congratulate on an issue that I personally felt was a funnier script than the MODOC issue . . . and that takes some doing. Spidey’s antics had me on the floor.

Nah. Just think of the possibilities. Or read JLApe. Great storyline. Think of it… Ape Beast who turned himself human with his serums. That’s just the tip of the iceburg. :D

Not bad, that Ape Beast bit!
Rob, I shall create a new entry and try to move your comment there. If I can do such things.

based on one of my favorite what ifs of all time, i absolutely am LOVING your Avengers Adventures, best Avengers book Marvel has produced in forever!!!! You da man! Atlas kicked all kinds of ass, You and Kirkman give me faith Marvel hasn’t totally sold out my childhood. i am so looking forward to the Avengers/Atlas crossover. you’ve got a big fan here my friend. anxiously awaiting you and mike on spidey/ff as well. take care jeff!

p.s. would you consider a slight modification to giantgirls costume? she tends to come off looking like a stripper with the super thin straps of her costume and the way they’re drawn around her chest, its the only element of the book that takes it out of the wonderful “all ages” category for me, i just want to pass this book on to every kid and adult i know. i literally recommend it to everyone in the studio.

Hey Dusty, good to hear from you! And I’m with you on those stupid thin straps- that came from someone originally saying “Just give her Giant-Man’s old costume” and I’ve complained about it ever since. All my whining paid off though, because in issue 13, Leonard Kirk has redesigned it and we make a point of it in the story. So after that, she’ll be (mostly) porn-proof!
